Concert venue under fire

The mayor of Kallithea and representatives of local residents in southern Athens have appealed to the prosecutor of the Athens Court of First Instance, requesting the adoption of measures "to restore legality and stop disturbing the common peace of citizens" at Plateia Nerou (Water Square), which serves as a regular venue for concerts. 

Municipality wants measures against noise disturbance ahead of Primer Music Festival

Municipal authorities in the Athens suburb of Kallithea have requested that a prosecutor take measures against noise disturbance ahead of the Primer Music Festival, planned to take place at Plateia Nerou on September 7 and 8.

The prosecutor accepted their request and instructed Kallithea's police department to take the necessary actions.

Court rejects injunction attempt to stop Release Athens festival

A court has rejected an injunction application to stop the Release Athens festival from Kallithea's municipal authority and the Kallithea Citizens' Movement.

As a result, the music festival will take place as planned at Plateia Nerou, starting on June 9.

The reasons listed in the filed injunction were noise pollution and the obstruction of access to the sea.

People vs live music clamor

High-volume noise from music concerts has residents of two seaside Athens suburbs up in arms.

Plateia Nerou (Water Square), an open space next to the arena used for the tae kwon do competition in the 2004 Athens Olympics, has often been used for concerts, prompting residents of the suburbs of Kallithea and Palaio Faliro to shut their windows to spare themselves the aural blast.
