Gay activists were preparing to march through the streets of Podgorica today, with some saying they felt optimistic that this year's Gay Pride would be more peaceful than last year's.

PODGORICA - Serbian athlete Olivera Jevtic finished first in the 21st Podgorica marathon with the time of 2hr 38m 19sec.

Previously, she triumphed in Podgorica three times- in 2008, 2009 and 2012.

"I am glad that I have won again on the route where I hold the record," Jevtic said after being declared the winner.

Stathis' company, Media Nea, on Wednesday submitted a formal bid for the bankrupt state-owned daily, as the only investor interested in buying the troubled outlet.

Almost five months after the local elections, the Montenegrin capital is finally due to get a new mayor. After a session of the local assembly on Monday, the Education Minister, Slavoljub Stijepovi, will take the post.

Zukorlić: Amfilohije and genocide

NOVI PAZAR -- Sandzak Mufti's involved the Metropolitan of the Serbian Orthodox Church into the further debate on the influence of Zukorlić on Muslims in Montenegro.

During the last three years alone, media outlets and the country's two TV broadcasters have fired 500 members of staff, while one newspaper went bankrupt, the head of the union,  Marijana Camovic, said on Wednesday.

The McLaren Group is interested in organizing races of its Formula 1 team in Montenegro, the government in Podgorica has announced.

Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic on Thursday in Podgorica met the President of the McLaren Group F1, Ray Bellm, and discussed the possibilities of the Adriatic country hosting sports car racing events.

After 14 years' work there as a reporter, the Podgorica daily Vijesti has axed the president of the Montenegrin Media Union, Marijana Camovic.

Camovic told BIRN on Wednesday that she had been fired illegally and as a "direct consequence" of her engagement on behalf of the rights of media workers.

The new government office, which aims to promote investment opportunities in Montenegro to Middle Eastern countries, will open on Sunday in Amman, the Montenegrin  Investment Promotion Agency has announced.
