New Traffic Code: Motorcycle lane-splitting legalized amongst congested cars

Bulgaria: The Blue Control Coupon attached to the Driver’s License is No Longer Needed Starting from Today
As of today, the blue control coupon attached to the driving license of a motor vehicle is no longer needed in Bulgaria.
This became possible after the MPs voted for changes to the Penal Code and removed this requirement for the drivers. On Friday, the amendments were published in the State Gazette.
Nearly 2,300 people lost their lives in accidents last year
Some 2,282 people lost their lives and 291,151 people were injured in a total of 485,048 traffic accidents that occurred last year across the country, the traffic directorate of the police has announced.

Ljubljana – The government adopted changes to the road traffic rules act that significantly lower fines for speeding, which according to Infrastructure Minister Jernej Vrtovec will be comparable at the EU level. The minister believes more effort should be invested in prevention and control.

Bus driver fined for playing game on mobile phone while driving
A public bus driver in Turkey's southern province of Adana has been fined and given penalty points for playing a game on his mobile phone while driving, İhlas News Agency has reported.
The incident came to light after a passenger on the bus recorded the 34-year-old Orhan Can playing Okey -- a very popular tile-based game in Turkey -- on video.

Police Terminate Registration of 200 Cars in One Week
The police have terminated the registration of 185 vehicles in a week, reported the Interior Ministry. Most drivers were sanctioned for drink driving - 92 cases. In 71 cases, the drivers had no licences, while in 22 cases drug use was detected.
The new penalty entered into force two months ago but is applicable only to car owners.
Police stop 500 drunk drivers over New Year holiday
More than 10,000 traffic violations have been sanctioned during the holidays, mostly speeding, driving under the influence, and failure to wear a seat belt.
This is according to Aleksandar Radenkovic of the Traffic Police, who added that approximately 500 drunk drivers were discovered over this period and excluded from traffic.
