Police evacuate squats in Athens
Police conducted an evacuation of a squatted public building in the neighborhood of Agios Panteleimonas during a raid on Wednesday morning. Eight individuals were detained during the operation at the so-called Zizania squat. This marks the third police raid on the same building, following previous actions in 2021 and 2023.

Sri Lanka detains nearly 15,000 in drug crackdown
Sri Lanka's police announced yesterday the arrests of nearly 15,000 people during a week-long military-backed anti-narcotics drive, a crackdown denounced by rights activists.
Police said their operation, code-named "Yuktiya" or "Justice," led to the seizure of almost 440 kilograms (970 pounds) of narcotics, including 272 kg of cannabis, 35 kg of hashish and nine kilograms of heroin.

Plovdiv Police Launches Raid on Funeral Agencies
A large-scale police operation is underway in Plovdiv, NOVA has learned from its sources. Police raided the offices of the city's funeral agencies to carry out checks.
The reason - alerts about frauds with prices for funerals, especially of those who died of coronavirus. These mourning ceremonies were by many times more expensive, victims say.
The crematorium is also targeted.

Police raid Zografou dormitories, 5 arrested
At least five suspects were detained during a police raid on the grounds of a complex housing university students in Zografou, eastern Athens, on Wednesday.
Police said the operation was aimed at evacuating illegally-occupied dormitories as well as disrupting drug dealing at the site.
The operation was carried out in the presence of a prosecutor.

Greek police evict migrants from Exarchia squats
Greek police have arrested a total of 31 people in dawn raids on squats in Athens mostly occupied by refugees and migrants, as part of a cleanup drive by the new conservative government.
Dozens of officers cleared two sites in the Exarchia neighborhood of the capital.
The migrants boarded buses to be transferred elsewhere.

Police arrest man for selling laughing gas in Crete
Police on the island of Crete arrested a 63-year-old man on Thursday on charges he was selling laughing gas (nitrous oxide) in his store.
He was nabbed after police raided his store in the tourist resort of Hersonisos and found almost 675 ampules and 910 balloons containing the gas.
The raid was part of a crackdown on the drug across the island, especially in resort areas.
Police raid Athens squats, detain dozens of migrants
Police raided squats in central Athens early on Monday, reclaiming properties and detaining dozens of undocumented migrants.
In the first raid, officers entered a building on Alkiviadou Street which has been occupied since February. They transferred 120 migrants from the premises to the Aliens Bureau on Petrou Ralli Street.

Eight officials from a political party along with 87 others have been fined for gambling after police raided the office of a party in the southern province of Adana late July 28, less than a year after police raided the same location on similar allegations.
Turkey Detains Nearly 300 Alleged IS, PKK Members in Police Raids
Turkish authorities detained nearly 300 people as police launched large-scale raids to arrest suspected members of Islamic State (IS), the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and other militant groups on Friday.
The raids became necessary after a wave of deadly violence has recently gripped the country, claiming the lives of several security officers.
