The EU Provides EUR 275 Million for the Construction of a Railway Line from Istanbul to the Bulgarian Border

The European Union will help finance the construction of a railway line linking Istanbul with the Bulgarian border with the sum of 275 million euros. This was announced by European Commission Vice-President Jyrki Katainen at a joint press conference in Istanbul with Turkish Economy Minister Nihat Zeebecki, the Associated Press reported.

Dacic to visit Finland Thursday

Finnish colleague Erkki Tuomioja he is scheduled to partake in a seminar on the future of OSCE and its role in Europe's security arena.

The visit to Helsinki will be an opportunity to exchange opinion with the Finnish party before Serbia assumes the OSCE chairmanship in 2015, the Ministry said.

Dacic confers with Finnish ambassador

BELGRADE - Serbia's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic conferred on Monday with Finnish Ambassador to Serbia Pekka Orpana, Serbian Foreign Ministry said in a release.

Ambassador Orpana extended to Dacic the official invitation by Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs Erkki Tuomioja to visit Finland.

Jyrki Katainen Becomes Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs

Former Finnish Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen becomes the new European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs, said EC president Jose Barroso. 

Katainen, will replace Olli Rehn who resigned from his position as a European Commissioner in order to pursue a political career in his home Finland. 

The current European Commission ends its term in the autumn of 2014.
