Amazon invests in three wind farms in Greece

Amazon has agreed to invest in three new utility-scale wind farms in Greece, in the Western and Central Macedonia and the Peloponnese, the retail giant announced on Wednesday. 

The company has signed four Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) that span three renewable energy projects, marking its largest renewable energy deal in the country to date.

Amazon is implementing its largest renewable energy initiative in Greece to date with an investment in three new large-scale wind farms. These energy parks will help meet Amazon’s energy needs in the region, providing clean energy while also supporting Greece’s transition to renewable energy use.

New gas power plant to begin trial operation this summer

The new natural gas power plant being developed by a joint company of Motor Oil and GEK Terna is expected to be put into trial operation in the summer, while its commercial operation is expected by early fall, Motor Oil sources said in the context of the general meeting of shareholders. The new unit has a capacity of 877 megawatts and a cost of 375 million euros.

Mytilineos and Protergia launch energy provenance tracking with Powerledger

Mytilineos announced on Wednesday that its energy arm, Protergia, will introduce energy provenance tracking and tracing features in Greece, in partnership with Powerledger.

With the Powerledger platform, Mytilineos and Protergia's consumers can now track, trace and visualize where their energy comes from in near-real time, and track their carbon footprint granularly.

Heron signs deal with Meton Energy

Heron Group on Wednesday announced the signing of long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with RWE Renewables Europe & Australia and PPC Renewables, through their joint venture Meton Energy.

Under the terms of the agreement, Heron will supply approximately 192 gigawatt-hours of green electricity each year.

US-owned TPP AES Bulgaria Finalizes Agreement with National Power Utility

US-owned thermal power plant AES 3C Maritza East I and Bulgaria's National Electric Company (NEK) have finalized the agreement on amending the long-term contract for purchasing electricity generated by the TPP.

The agreement was negotiated in April and it concerns the capacity price of AES 3C Maritza East I, according to a media statement of the US-owned TPP.
