The Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) has issued a statement addressing violence against animals after a number of videos spread on social media, saying there is no difference between humans and animals in terms of affection they deserve,  Anadolu Agency has reported.

Opposition HDP condemns Reina terror attack

The Kurdish issue-focused Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) on Jan. 1 condemned the armed attack that targeted New Year revelers at a nightclub in central Istanbul, claiming 39 lives and wounding more than 60 people.

Turkey has recalled the religious affairs attaché of the Turkish Embassy in The Hague, Yusuf Acar, after Dutch authorities accused him of gathering intelligence for the Gülen movement, believed to have orchestrated the July 15 coup attempt.
