There was little discussion in the pre-election period between the candidates about the problems of the European Union, as the political confrontation revolved around domestic issues. Thus, the concern that is developing in other European countries about the course of our Union is unknown in our country.

"The discussions are ongoing", political newcomer and proposed PM Plamen Nikolov said on Thursday, declining to give more specific information.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has labelled as "absolutely unacceptable" the recent statements made by the Moldovan Prime Minister, Ion Chicu, about Romania, on Friday, on a social network.

The Moldovan authorities have authorised simultaneous protests in the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau on Saturday for pro-Romanian Unionists and for pro-Russian Socialists members and sympathizers.

Victor Spirescu, the first Romanian to arrive in Britain on January 1 after the lifting of remaining work restrictions on Romanians, is now promoting a new pro-EU party in Britain founded by UK-resident Romanians, the UK's Channel 4 TV reports.
