Romanian firefighters in Greece protect Profitis Ilias Monastery in Vilia
The Romanian military firefighters currently on mission in Greece have ensured, throughout Tuesday, until the early hours of Wednesday, protection against the wildfires for the Profitis Ilias Monastery in the area of Vilia. They deployed to the area with a fire engine, a cistern, an offroad vehicle, an utility terrain vehicle (UTV), and a drone.
Man arrested in northern Greece for illegal transport of migrants
Police in Thessaloniki arrested on Friday a 21-year-old Syrian who was caught transporting 17 irregular migrants in a car in northern Greece.
The suspect was apprehended after a police chase which ended at the road junction of Profitis Thessalonikis, on Egnatia highway.
Parents' protests against refugees at school probed
A prosecutor has launched a preliminary investigation to assess whether anti-racism laws are being violated in the village of Profitis, near Thessaloniki, where several parents are protesting against the attendance of refugee and migrant children at the local primary school.
Some locals still oppose migrants at school
Despite the relative success, so far, of the program to educate migrant youngsters at public schools, isolated protests were reported again Wednesday, even though they were milder than Monday's.
