Kosovo Halts Power Plant After Green Groups Protest

The decision came after thousands of citizens, environmentalists and civil society members protested on Monday in Peja/Pec, claiming the project will damage the river that passes through the Rugova national park.
Albanian Activists Mull Lawsuits to Stop Power Plants
Activists in the northern Albanian region of Tropoja are preparing to submit lawsuits to halt the planned construction of hydropower plants on the Valbona river and its tribunaries, claiming it will destroy tourism in the so-called "Albanian Alps".

The Unidentified, which names the Serbian officers who ordered attacks on Kosovo villages around the town of Pec/Peja in 1999 and those involved in the cover-up operation to hide the victims' bodies, was awarded the best short documentary prize at the South East European Film Festival in Los Angeles on Thursday.

Campaigners say Power Plants will Wreck 'Albania's Alps'
Environmental activists and local residents are upping their campaign to stop the building of six hydropower plants on the Valbona river, arguing that they will destroy tourism in what some call the "Albanian Alps".
"UNESCO should remove churches from list before takeover"
SPC monastery Visoki Decani Abbot Sava Janjic believes that UNESCO should remove Serbian Orthodox churches from its list if it lets "Kosovo take them over."
"If UNESCO wants despite all to let Kosovo 'take over' Serbian Orthodox churches let them take us generously off World heritage list first," Janjic said on Twitter.
