Fragmented protection leaves seas vulnerable
Greece is falling short of its goals to protect marine environments, with only 3.4% of its territorial waters under some form of protection, according to a report from nine environmental organizations, including WWF Hellas and Greenpeace.

Greenpeace urges government to honor sea protection vow
Greenpeace has called on the Greek government to honor the commitments it made in April, at the Our Ocean Conference, noting that Athens has not ratified the UN Oceans Treaty nor established new marine protected areas.

Greece commits to protection of its seas

Bulgaria Nominates Four Biosphere Reserves For Inclusion in UNESCO's World Network of Biosphere Reserves
Minister of the Environment and Water Neno Dimov has signed a declaration nominating four biosphere reserves for inclusion in UNESCO's World Network of Biosphere Reserves.
The nominations are for biosphere reserves of a new kind - the Sreburna biosphere reserve, Chervenata Stena (The Red Wall), Uzunbudjak, and the Central Balkan national park.
