Police in the western Peloponnese have arrested five non-nationals suspected of involvement in armed robbery and kidnapping.

The suspects are believed to be behind the burglary of homes in Kavasila and Psari. both in Ilia prefecture, during which they also abducted seven foreign nationals at the same time.

A large fish-shaped fossil was discovered in the Samaria Gorge in Crete during maintenence of the gorge path, which is a great tourist and hiking attraction.

Marine organism fossils are common in the the Cretan mountains, with numerous discoveries in the past, esepcially shells, since the time Crete was submerged in water millions of years ago.

Six Greek films are contenders for this year’s top award, which will be bestowed by the Hellenic Academy of Cinema in a ceremony on March 30 in Athens.
“Xenia” by director Panos Koutras, “Mikro Psari” (Little Fish) by Yiannis Economidis and “Norvigia” (Norway) by Yiannis Veslemes are the apparent frontrunners.
