Public holidays in the Maldives

Turkish Airlines (THY) has served over 2.3 million passengers over the Islamic holiday of Eid al-Adha or the "Feast of Sacrifice" from Aug. 17 to Aug. 26. 

A quite busy calendar is set for Turkey's economic administration after a nine-day public holiday for Eid al-Adha (the Feast of Sacrifice) with special emphasis on the preparations of the Medium-Term Economic Program (MEP), the public budget for 2019 and the country's 11th Economic Development Plan.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Aug. 11 that the government was reviewing the 10-day extension of the upcoming Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice), adding that such an extension would be "felicitous" for tourism.

Turkish tourism representatives and exporters are at odds over whether a public holiday for the upcoming Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) should be extended or not.

Aug. 31, a Thursday, will be the eve of Eid al-Adha, which will continue for the next four days. Turkey also marks the public holiday of Victory Day on Aug. 30.

Nationwide road accidents have marked this year's holiday of Eid al-Fitr, despite the extra measures that were taken.

Including the first two days before the holiday began on July 17, 74 people have died and 377 have been injured over the four days.
