The most prized pigment of antiquity was processed not from a tangle of root or the frothy extract of a weed, but by drawing out a slimy secretion from the mucus glands behind the anus of murex sea snails - "the bottom of the bottom-feeders," historian Kelly Grovier has written.

Ceramic tulips on display
The exhibition, titled, 'Tulip and Woman,' displaying 440 ceramic tulips produced by 50 ceramic artists in white to pink and purple to red colors, and in classical or stylized forms, can be visited at the Istanbul Tulip Foundation through April 26.

Media: Chaos on the streets of Serbia envisaged; "Participants sprinkled with purple"
It should be reminded that the "Go-start" initiative announced that they would block highways throughout Serbia during the protest on Saturday, but the newspaper Kurir states that the announcement of the "Purple Revolution" association has arrived in their editorial office, announcing that they will mark all cars with purple paint which will take part in the blockade.

Relatives of women and girls murdered or missing in Mexico marched through the capital on Nov. 3 carrying over 100 purple crosses inscribed with the names of victims, demanding justice for their loved ones and improved efforts to investigate their cases.
Deep Purple
Deep purple is its color. It is often likened to dark velvet. Not that it is fuzzy. On the contrary, with a satin smooth surface, it is as shiny as polished marble. It must be the deepness of its color that makes one think of velvet. I'm talking about aubergines. In Turkish, in many cases the term "aubergine purple" is used to stress the intensity of the color purple.
