Pylaia-Chortiatis

An elderly couple was rescued from a house in Pylaia, Thessaloniki, after a fire broke out around 4 p.m., from an as-yet unknown cause.

The man and woman were safely evacuated with the assistance of the Fire Service and are in good health.

Twelve firefighters with six vehicles worked to extinguish the blaze.

Greek police is searching for the suspect in the shooting of a man in Thessaloniki early Tuesday morning.

The 25-year-old victim was near the cemetery of the Pylaia municipality in the south part of the city at around 1 a.m. when he was shot by an unknown perpetrator. 

He was admitted to the AHEPA hospital for treatment. It was not clear how serious his injury was.  

The 65-year-old had been fatally attacked in March 2020 - The compensation is to be paid by the municipality of Pylaia-Hortiatis
