A 49-year-old priest was arrested for allegedly punching and verbally abusing a 45-year-old woman with whom he is believed to have been in a relationship. The incident occurred in the early hours of last Saturday in Pyrgos.

Man dies after insect bite in western Peloponnese
A 48-year-old man from Viotia, central Greece, who was vacationing in the western Peloponnese, passed away on Thursday afternoon after being admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the General Hospital of Pyrgos, according to state broadcaster ERT.
The man was hospitalized following a severe reaction to an insect bite, which medical experts believe was likely caused by a spider.

A tragic traffic accident occurred at noon Friday on the highway Pyrgos-Kyparissia, at the height of Elaia.
Man dies after participating in fighting wildfire in western Peloponnese
A 55-year-old man who was participating in a firefighting effort in the western Peloponnese has died.
It is understood that the man wanted to assist in battling a wildfire near the village of Alpochori in Ilia prefecture and that he may have choked on some food as he rushed to help.
He was transferred to Pyrgos hospital where, according to local media, he was pronounced dead.
Missing toddler found dead in canal near Pyrgos
A two-year-old girl who went missing on Monday in the area of Pyrgos, Peloponnese, was found dead by search and rescue units, state run broadcaster ERT reported on Tuesday.
The body of the girl was found in an irrigation canal near a military camp. Her death is attributed to drowning, the report said.

Turkey fires warning shots - attack from the sea
As it is stated, by implementing dangerous maneuvers, the Turkish ship forced the Cypriot vessel to leave the area and enter the port of Kato Pyrgos.
