The Gavriliadis family (originally from Pyrgos) vacation in Andros had a tragic ending on Friday morning. The family had traveled with friends to the Cycladic island and this morning 22-year-old Stathis and his father, well-known Pyrgos businessman Takis Gavriliadis, took a ride in a “pig” they had rented in the Stivari area of Batsi.

Man dies after insect bite in western Peloponnese

A 48-year-old man from Viotia, central Greece, who was vacationing in the western Peloponnese, passed away on Thursday afternoon after being admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the General Hospital of Pyrgos, according to state broadcaster ERT.

The man was hospitalized following a severe reaction to an insect bite, which medical experts believe was likely caused by a spider.

Man dies after participating in fighting wildfire in western Peloponnese

A 55-year-old man who was participating in a firefighting effort in the western Peloponnese has died.

It is understood that the man wanted to assist in battling a wildfire near the village of Alpochori in Ilia prefecture and that he may have choked on some food as he rushed to help.

He was transferred to Pyrgos hospital where, according to local media, he was pronounced dead.

As it is stated, by implementing dangerous maneuvers, the Turkish ship forced the Cypriot vessel to leave the area and enter the port of Kato Pyrgos.
