Key Reformist Bloc Party Withdraws Support for Bulgaria's Govt

Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB), one of the key parties in right-wing Reformist Bloc, has decided to renounce support for the Bulgarian government, a statement sent out by the party reads.

DSB members on Saturday met for an extraordinary congress in the Black Sea town of Pomorie, days after tensions rose between their leader Radan Kanev and the main ruling party GERB.

The Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) of Radan Kanev are meeting on Saturday to decide whether or not to remain in the government.

Kanev, whose DSB party is part of junior coalition ally Reformist Bloc (RB), is also to discuss the possibility of "withdrawing" its Health Minister Petar Moskov from the cabinet.

Bulgaria should impose penalties on refugees on its territory refusing to send their children to school or take up the jobs offered to them, Deputy Prime Minister Meglena Kuneva said on Monday.

"If the refugees want to take advantage of all rights granted to them by Bulgarian law, then they must meet fulfil obligations as well," Kuneva has said, according to BTA news agency.

Bulgaria's Ruling Parties to Seek Consensus on Pension Reform

Center-right GERB and rightist Reformist Bloc, the two main partners in Bulgaria's ruling coalition, have agreed to hold additional consultations over the country's pension system.

Reformist Bloc (RB) co-head Radan Kanev wrote on Facebook Sunday that a two-hour-long meeting between him and Prime Minister Boyko Borisov had taken place.
