Athens' Irish community and its many friends will celebrate Ireland's national holiday at the annual Greek-Irish Society St Patrick's Day Gala Ball at the Hotel Grande Bretagne, Syntagma Square.

An Italian woman has won a Picasso painting worth more than $1 million in a charity raffle to raise money for village water projects in Africa.

The winner of May 20's draw at Christie's auction house in Paris was named as Claudia Borgogno, who was gifted the winning ticket.

Children in the State of Missouri sell raffle tickets with an AR-15 as a prize, according to Newfoundation. The adolescents will use the winnings to support the local basketball team.

On December 2 and 3, the Italian School of Athens will hold its 42nd annual Christmas bazaar. The Scandinavian Church is holding a Christmas bazaar on December 1-2, with lots of Nordic food, including sweets and chocolates, as well as Christmas decorations, handicrafts and gift items. There will also be a raffle with exciting prizes. Opening hours are noon to 9 p.m. on Friday and noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday.

ACS Athens is hosting its annual Holiday Bazaar at its Chalandri premises on Saturday, December 2. Running from 12 noon to 5 p.m., the event features a Holiday Marketplace with vendor booths, children's activities in Santa's Village and the Elf Forest, food, home-baked treats and drinks at the Candy Cane Cafe, a movie in the theater, "Toys for Tots," a used book sale and a raffle.

The friends of the Pallini Animal Shelter will be holding their monthly quiz evening at the Athens Center, on Friday, November 17, starting at 8 p.m. The fundraising event will also feature a raffle and book sale. Admission costs 10 euros, including refreshments.

The Athens Center is hosting another of the Palini Animal Shelter's popular quiz evenings, with a raffle and prizes, on Friday, April 21. The games begin at 8 p.m. and admission costs 10 euros (including snacks and a drink), with proceeds going in aid of the animal charity.

The Pallini Animal Shelter for rescued animals is hosting its final farm quiz of the year on Friday, December 16, at the Athens Center. Admission costs 10 euros and includes refreshments and drinks.
