Railway accidents in Victoria

A fatal accident occurred when the international fast train from Istanbul to Bucharest collided with a car carrying two people at a railway crossing between Plachkovtsi and Tryavna stations. The incident took place around 9:40 a.m., and initial reports suggest the vehicle passed through despite a prohibitory signal.

Transport Minister Georgi Gvozdeikov confirmed that there was no head-on collision between two trains in Sofia around 4:40 p.m. According to Gvozdeikov, the incident occurred when a train departing for Plovdiv from Central Station was hit from behind by another train performing a maneuver with three carriages.

A woman was seriously injured early Thursday morning when the car she was driving crashed into a bus in Piraeus, police said.

The accident happened at the junction of Alipedos and 34th Infantry Regiment streets at 5.30 a.m.

An ambulance transferred the woman to a nearby hospital. It was not clear if there were other passengers in the vehicle. 

The accident happened near Victoria State.

A train with 160 passengers aboard left the rails in Australia. Two people are reported missing.

It is not clear how many were injured. The train was travelling from Sydney to Melbourne. The accident occurred near Victoria around 7:50 pm local time.

A rescue operation is underway. 18 firefighters were dispatched to the scene.

At least 30 people were injured today after a passenger train crashed into a truck in the Japanese city of Yokohama, France Press and Kyodo reported.

The accident happened at 11.40 am local time on the railway crossing  between two stations. During the collision, the locomotive and several high-speed wagons derailed and the truck caught on fire, BTA reported.

А passenger train locomotive derailed between Levski and Troyan because of the incorrect passage of a truck through a railway crossing, National Rail Infrastructure Company reported. The incident occurred around 10:00 am.

The truck driver is injured.

The passengers will be transported by bus. The movement of trains in the area is disturbed,  BNR informs.

A passenger train crashed into a stationary freight train in Pakistan on July 11, killing 11 people and injuring more than 60 under overturned carriages, police said, with the prime minister blaming ageing, poorly maintained rail infrastructure.

A passenger train hit a truck stuck on rails in northern Germany, injuring eight people, two of them seriously, police said, reported NOVA TV. 

The crash occurred at about 4.30 am local time at a rail crossing at Alt Düvenstedt near Flensburg. As a result, the regional train carrying 22 passengers was derailed.

An 85-year-old man was killed after his was hit by a train that was en route to Thessaloniki from Alexandroupoli in northern Greece.

It appears that the farmer was hit by the train while trying to cross the tracks, on Saturday.

The train came off the rails following the collision, which occurred near the village of Kastanousa in Serrres, but no one aboard was hurt.
