Rape during the Bosnian War

Rade Grujic, a former member of Snagovo Company of the Zvornik Territorial Defence force, pleaded not guilty on Tuesday at the Bosnian state court to raping a Bosniak woman in the village of Liplje during the war.

In closing statements in the trial of former Bosnian Serb soldier Milomir Davidovic, his defence asked for him to be acquitted of the rape and sexual abuse of Bosniak women in Foca in July 1992.

Former Bosnian Serb soldier Vuk Ratkovic’s conviction for the multiple rape of a women in Visegrad during the war in 1992 and 1993 was upheld on appeal.

Former Bosnian Serb Army unit commander Dragoljub Kunarac, who is already serving a war crimes sentence in Germany, will be tried again for committing crimes against humanity in Foca in 1992.

After a six-year trial, the Bosnian court sentenced eight Bosniaks to a total of 60 years in prison for committing crimes against Serb and Croat civilians illegally held in wartime detention camps in Hadzici.
