Twenty-five years after it was hailed as a marvel of modern engineering, the Athens metro is showing distinct signs of wear and neglect, mainly stemming from insufficient maintenance and investments.

A new transit map for Thessaloniki will come into force on December 1, a day after the opening of the city's new metro system.

The updated plan includes modifications to 11 bus routes, the addition of a new line from Thessaloniki Airport and adjustments to certain terminal stops, aimed at decongesting the city center and enhancing passenger service.

The main metro line in the northern port city of Thessaloniki is set to begin operations on November 30, offering residents and visitors a new transportation option along the city's central corridor.

The immediate mobilization of the Hellenic Police (ELAS) was triggered by an email sent at 7:20 AM to the headquarters of the Greek police, stating that bombs with two kilograms of explosives would explode at KAT, Loukareos, Syntagma Metro, and along the red line of the Metro.

The email was written in English.

A recent survey has ranked the best metro systems in Europe, revealing surprising results about the leaders in public transportation. Conducted by Bounce, the study evaluates major European capitals, indicating that some of the traditionally dominant systems have fallen behind. Notably, the London Underground, despite its fame, does not even make the top five.

Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Staikouras reconfirmed on Thursday that "18 full years after the signing of the basic contract for the project, on April 26, 2006, in 87 days Thessaloniki will have a metro." 

Passengers in some of Athens' metro stations are expected to get a long-delayed access to the internet in September, when the first Wi-Fi connections will become operational. 

Internet will be available at the metro stations but not inside the tunnels, the Digital Governance Ministry has said. It was not clear which stations will be the ones with free internet access.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis pledged on Monday that the main line (Line 1) of the long-delayed Thessaloniki metro project would be completed by the end of the year.

The Sofia Municipality has unveiled plans for the expansion of the metro network in the "Lyulin" district. The announcement signals a significant step forward in improving connectivity and mobility for residents in this densely populated area.

Rescuers have recovered the body of a man who fell onto the tracks of an Athens metro station.

Six firefighters attended the scene at Kallithea station, which is on green Line 1.

The circumstances of the incident remain unclear.

During the operation, services were temporarily suspended at the station.
