Montenegrin Govt Urged to Host Afghan Refugees

The NGO activists urged the Montenegrin government to "enable anyone who is on its territory to express their intention and apply for asylum, in accordance with the procedure provided by the [Montenegrin] Law on International and Temporary Protection of Foreign Citizens".

World should act in unity on Afghanistan: Turkish FM
Turkey has warned of a new refugee influx from Afghanistan due to the unsafe environment and called on the international community to act in unity and solidarity in tackling the growing problem that can create global implications, including terrorism.

UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi reiterated his call for the borders to remain open and for more countries to share "humanitarian responsibility" with Iran and Pakistan for 500.000 Afghans, who are expected to flee Afghanistan by the end of the year.
Iran and Pakistan have already received about 2.2 million Afghans.

Turkey cannot take new refugee burden, foreign minister says
Turkey cannot take the burden of a new migrant wave from Afghanistan, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on Aug. 29 after talks with his German counterpart.

"As Turkey, we have sufficiently carried out our moral and humanitarian responsibilities regarding migration," Çavuşoğlu said, speaking in a joint news conference with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas.
Germany's Maas due in Turkey for official visit
German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas will pay a working visit to Turkey on Aug. 29, according to the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
