Residential and commercial building collapses in East Village New York

The explosion and collapse were reported at around 3:20 p.m. at 7th Street and Second Avenue Thursday afternoon at a residential and commercial building.

According to the Fire Department multiple injuries have been reported and two people were rushed to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition.

German architect Frei Otto wins Pritzker a day before dying

German architect Frei Otto was named as winner of the prestigious Pritzker Prize on March 10, a day after his death at the age of 89, organizers of architecture's top honor said.
      
Otto, renowned for designs which incorporated lightweight tent-like structures, had been informed he had won the accolade shortly before his death, a statement said.
      

State Council rules against sale of Athens seaside resort

Greece's top administrative court prevented the sale of a luxury Athens seaside resort to an Arab-Turkish fund. The State Council judges decision ruled that the sale of the prime Astir Palace hotel complex and the development of the seaside site breached planning rules and woud harm the natural, cultural and urban environment.

Body found in under-construction apartment block in Thessaloniki

A decomposing body was found on Tuesday in the basement of an apartment block under construction in Thessaloniki.

A passer-by noticed the body and notified authorities, who had to pump water out of the basement in order to recover the corpse.

Police have ruled out the possibility of foul play.

Mixed farms dominate in Serbia

BELGRADE - Serbian agriculture is dominated by mixed farms, since more than half of all the farms in the country (53.7 percent) belong to one of three groups of farms that both grow crops and breed animals, according to what has been said at the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce.
