There are some fundamental truths in the world: The sky is blue. The grass is green. The Oscars red carpet is re -- champagne-colored.

The 71st Cannes Film Festival took off on May 8 with an opening ceremony mastered by French actor Edouard Baer. The ceremony was preceded by the traditional red carpet ceremony.

It’s the ship that launched a thousand beauties, and as old as Helen of Troy herself. But what do we really know about the red carpet?

Many celebrities walked on the Red Carpet of Hollywood’s most glamorous event, the 88th Academy Awards, which took place on February 28.

For many of those, this was not their first time, as they have been nominated many times since their film debut.
