Ministry announces crackdown on ‘reverse power theft’ by RES firms

The Environment and Energy Ministry intends to crack down on renewable energy suppliers who exceed their licensed capacity, committing a form of "reverse power theft" by flooding the system with unwanted electricity, the ministry's general secretary, Aristotelis Aivaliotis, told the Renewables & Storage Forum last week.

Greece’s new climate plan sets more ambitious renewable energy goals

Greece has set more ambitious targets for expanding solar and wind power to cut greenhouse emissions by 2030 under a revised energy and climate plan presented on Friday.

Athens will aim for an 82% share of renewables in electricity generation by 2030 versus a 66% target in its previous 2019 plan, under the plan to be submitted to the European Commission for approval.

Djedovic Handanovic signs MoU with Chinese energy firm

BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Energy and Mining Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic signed on Wednesday a MoU between the Serbian government and the China Energy International Group on strategic cooperation in the energy sector.

The minister said the cooperation would make it possible to boost electricity storage capacities by utilising new technologies.

Environment and Energy Minister Thodoros Skylakakis and Deputy Environment and Energy Minister Alexandra Sdoukou signed on Friday a ministerial decision promoting self-consumption of energy, either individually by all citizens and businesses of the country or jointly (by apartment buildings).
