At the meeting of the defence ministers of NATO countries on Wednesday, the UK undertook the obligation to send fighter jets to Romania in 2017, while the USA promised Poland military forces, tanks and artillery - the biggest deployment of the alliance at Russia's borders since the end of the Cold War, reported Reuters.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed "regret" over the Russian High Court's approval of a ban on the activities of the Crimean Tatar Parliament on Oct. 3. 
"The ministry regrets the High Court of Russia's approval after appeal of the ban," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tanju Bilgiç said on Oct. 3 in a written statement.

The results of the Russian parliamentary elections in Crimea were not legally valid in the eyes of Turkey, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tanju Bilgiç said on Sept. 23 in a written statement.

Turkey continued to support the territorial integrity of Ukraine, including the Crimean peninsula, said Bilgiç, adding that the weekend's elections were considered within this perspective.

A Turkish registered dry cargo vessel crashed into the supporting legs of a bridge construction on the Azov Sea, causing major damage on a project aiming to link Crimea to mainland Russia through a railway and a highway.

Turkey has reiterated that it does not recognize the result of a 2014 referendum in Crimea in which voters elected to join Russia, the Foreign Ministry has said in a statement on the second anniversary of the event.

Turkey and Ukraine have deepened political, military and economic ties through consecutive high-level visits following the Turkish military's downing of a Russian warplane in November 2015 and the deterioration in ties between Ankara and Moscow.
