The airline company of Babak Zanjani, an Iranian businessman who is accused of being involved with corruption with former Iranian government officials, has been confiscated by the government, an Iranian official has said.

A handwritten note signed by Iranian businessmen Reza Zarrab, in which he states that he has received the money for the luxury watch he bought for former Economy Minister Zafer Ça?layan, has been revealed as the evidence that cleared Ça?layan of wrongdoing in the eyes of a parliamentary corruption panel.

Former interior minister's son Barış Güler and Iranian businessman Abdullah Happani, who were arrested as part of the Dec. 17, 2014 massive corruption and bribery probe have received their money and gold seized last year.

Reza Zarrab, the controversial businessman involved in the bribery claims in Turkey's suppressed graft probe, has withdrawn his defamation case against Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli.

The decision came on Dec. 16, as the court hearing the case awaited documents from Iranian officials on his business ties in the neighboring country. 

Former EU Minister Egemen Bağış has admitted receiving gifts including “chocolate, shirts and ties” from Iranian-Azeri businessman Reza Zarrab and said he helped some of Zarrab’s friends receive visas, speaking at a parliamentary commission on corruption allegations on Nov. 27. He also described “gift giving” as a “Turkish tradition.”

Watch-seller Yusuf Tutuş, the apparent dealer of the expensive watch that was allegedly given to former Economy Minister Zafer Çağlayan by Iranian-Azeri businessman Reza Zarrab, has said Zarrab would buy 20 to 30 watches worth more than 1 million euros annually to give as gifts.
