On the ineligibility of convicted neo-Nazis

In any other European state, there would be no debate about allowing convicted neo-Nazis to submit their candidacy for any level of government, be it in local, national or European elections. This is often overlooked when discussing the possible election of members from the now-defunct neo-Nazi party Golden Dawn, and its convicted former spokesman, Ilias Kasidiaris.

PASOK bid to block jailed Kasidiaris from elections

The center-left PASOK party is undertaking a legislative initiative in order to prevent convicted former Golden Dawn MP Ilias Kasidiaris from running in the upcoming local elections.

Kasidiaris officially submitted his candidacy from prison last week to run for mayor of Athens in October's municipal elections. He will be running under the banner of the political party Free Athenians.

Imprisoned former deputy leader of Golden Dawn, Ilias Kasidiaris, officially submitted his candidacy on Friday to run for the position of Mayor of Athens in the upcoming municipal elections scheduled for October. He will be contesting under the banner of the political party Free Athenians.

Judge who probed Golden Dawn named new Supreme Court chief

One of the chief investigative magistrates in the trial against the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn organization, Ioanna Klapa, has been appointed as the new president of Greece's Supreme Court.

Klapa became a judge in 1984 and joined the country's highest criminal court in August 2020 after distinguishing herself in the widely publicized trial.

Kasidiaris says he wants to run for Athens mayor

Jailed former Golden Dawn deputy leader Ilias Kasidiaris announced on Thursday that he intends to run for the mayorship of Athens in October's municipal elections. 

Kasidiaris will run with the political party Free Athenians and aims to make it to the second round and be elected, he said  in a statement presented by his lawyer, Vassiliki Pantazi.
