Greece’s first crematorium opens on island of Evia
Fifteen years after cremations were legalized in Greece, the country's first such facility has opened in Ritsona on the island of Evia, and has already carried out 15 cremations.
Licensed in the summer of 2018 and inaugurated on September 30, the private venture is 70 percent owned by Crem Services SA. The nongovernmental Greek Cremation Society (GCS) holds a 30 percent stake.

A South Korean man set himself on fire Aug. 12 outside the Japanese embassy in Seoul during a large protest over Japan's forced recruitment of sex slaves to service military brothels during World War II.
Museum décor turns into wish tree
A dry tree branch, which was placed in the newly opened ?anl?urfa Archaeology Museum for decorative purposes, has been turned into a wish tree by local visitors.
Foreign tourists were surprised to see things like toilet paper and scraps of cloth had been hung on the tree.

Migrant’s public self-immolation in Piraeus
A man who set fire to himself at dawn on Tuesday in Piraeus was rushed to hospital in a serious condition. The tragic incident took place at 3 a.m. outside 38 Vitolion Street. Eye witnesses say that the man, a foreigner, poured benzene over his body and then lit a match.
His body was immediately engulfed in flames as he screamed.

Man Sets Himself Ablaze in Bulgaria's Sandanski
The life of a 48-year-old is in danger after the second self-immolation in Bulgaria within slightly over 24 hours, officials say.
Authorities reveal that according to a witness account the man was by the church at Sandanski's cemetery when he doused himself with "a liquid" and set himself on fire, public broadcaster BNR reports.

Albania Ex-Political Prisoner in Self-Immolation Protest
Kaziu tried to set himself on fire after making a statement to reporters accusing the centre-left government of Prime Minister Edi Rama of failing to uphold its promises to repay former political prisoners for their suffering.
TV pictures show Kaziu trying to pour a bottle of petrol over himself, before being tackled to the ground by police officers.
