Known for its snow-capped peaks, green meadows and the emerald river, Slovenia's western region of Posočje is dotted with small farms, many of them organic. Now the region hopes to become the first ecoregion in the country.

Armed with smartphones and, in the main, directed by smugglers, most take the 'Eagle's Nest', a mountain path near the Morina border crossing, or follow the White Drin River.

A memorial event to remember those who went missing during the 1992-95 Bosnian war and to mark the Day of the Disappeared was held in the town of Mostar on Monday by the Missing Persons Institute of Bosnia and Herzegovina and war victims' associations from all over the country.

Athens is reportedly considering whether to lodge a demarche with Ankara over its presentation of a section of Greek territory in the Evros border region as Turkish. 

Bulgarian law enforcement authorities have detained 12 illegal immigrants crammed in a Mercedes SUV, the Interior Ministry said in a press release on Monday, reports Xinhua.
