Minister promises Black Sea city locals area ‘will not be damaged’ amid protests
Turkey's Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu has promised locals who have been protesting against the construction of a stone quarry in the Black Sea province of Rize's İkizdere district that it will not be damaged after weeks-long protests.
During a visit to İkizdere, Karaismailoğlu assured the locals that the forested area will not be damaged.

Black Sea provinces under spotlight amid spike in virus cases
As Turkey plans to start easing COVID-19-releated restrictions gradually in March, a spike in the number of virus cases in five provinces in the country's Black Sea region has caused deep concerns.

Senegalese workers replace Georgians in tea gardens due to pandemic restrictions
When workers from Georgia could not come to Turkey as they usually do to collect tea because borders were sealed in line with measures to halt the spread of COVID-19, Senegalese, Afghan and Uzbek nationals already in Turkey filled the void to pick tea in the Black Sea province of Rize.
10 tea pickers test positive for COVID-19 as harvest begins
Ten people from around 7,000 tea producers have tested positive for the coronavirus, as the country has permitted exceptional inter-city travel to tea collectors travelling to the Black Sea province of Rize to collect this year's harvest.
