Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk face new competition in slimming drugs market
The duopoly of US pharmaceuticals firm Eli Lilly and Danish Novo Nordisk in the slimming drugs market is threatened.
Two firms, Viking Therapeutics and Roche, announced the development of three products and Viking's shot up 39% in one day.
Goldman Sachs estimates the market for such drugs will grow from €14 billion to €130 billion by 2030.

Daily Covid case count somewhat lower than a week ago
Ljubljana – Slovenia logged 11,810 new coronavirus cases on Monday, a drop of 7.5% from the same day a week ago but on fewer PCR tests. The figure is likely to increase today as positive rapid tests are added to the cases picked up from PCR testing.
Almost 8,400 coronavirus cases confirmed on Sunday
Ljubljana – Slovenia confirmed 8,396 new cases of coronavirus on Sunday. The latest figures bring the 14-day incidence per 100,000 people, a closely-watched benchmark, to 5,620, meaning almost 6% of the population have had a confirmed case of the virus in the past fortnight. Sunday’s case count is almost 70% higher than a week ago.

Dnevnik rebukes new PCR testing protocol
Ljubljana – A new PCR testing protocol introduced this week does not take much pressure off laboratories, while it gives health providers at primary level more work, the newspaper Dnevnik says on Saturday. It believes the country’s PCR testing capacity should have been increased a while ago because the Omicron wave was an expected event.
