Turkey has urged the U.N. Special Representative for Syria Staffan de Mistura not to invite any representative from the Democratic Union Party (PYD) to the committee that will be formed to establish a new constitution for Syria.

Turkey has dismissed France’s cautionary remarks about its military operation in Syria’s northern district of Afrin as “insults.”

Turkey on Thursday dismissed cautionary remarks from France about its military operation in northern Syria as "insults", signaling continued strain between Ankara and its NATO allies over the incursion, Reuters reports.

A total of 37 suspects were detained across Turkey on Jan. 31 for allegedly “conducting propaganda” for the People’s Protection Units (YPG) against Turkey’s ongoing operation in northwestern Syria’s Afrin district, state-run Anadolu Agency reported, citing provincial governors offices and security sources.

The Turkish Armed Forces and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) cleared People’s Protection Units (YPG) militants from Mount Ain al-Batman in the northeast of the Afrin district in northern Syria on Jan. 31, the 12th day of “Operation Olive Branch.”

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) – the U.S. backed militant group in Syria dominated by the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) – has started moving their forces to the country’s north in reaction to Turkey’s “Operation Olive Branch” in Afrin, the Pentagon has said.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has blasted the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) over its criticism that the Turkish army has allied with the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the ongoing operation into the northern Syrian district of Afrin.

The Turkish army’s only target in the northern Syrian district of Afrin is the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdağ has vowed, stressing that the length of the operation “depends on developments on the battlefield.” 

The U.S. has chosen the wrong partner in the war against terrorism in Syria by supporting the People’s Protection Units (YPG) in Syria despite its NATO ally Turkey’s warnings, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has said. 

The US doesn't intend to withdraw its troops from Syria's Manbij despite Turkey's warnings, US Central Command chief General Joseph Votel said Monday.

Earlier this month, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Ankara couldn't limit its precautionary measures against the YPG to Syria's Afrin district and might move to Manbij, also in Aleppo province.
