One soldier was killed in clashes between security forces and outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in the Nusaybin district of the southeastern province of Mardin on May 5.

Curfews have been announced in two districts of the southeastern provinces of Hakkari and Mardin, two days after Turkey's interior minister declared there would be new military operations in the region.
