Red Wine Consumption Declines, Leaving Bulgarian Wineries Struggling to Sell Stock
The consumption of red wine is declining compared to white and rosé varieties, according to Atanas Vassilev, chairman of the National Association of Bulgarian Vintners (NABV). Vassilev noted that red varieties are primarily being used to produce rosé, which has led to difficulties in selling red wine.
How to Keep Wine Cool during the Hot Summer Months
In general, sparkling wines should be served at temperatures of 7°-9°C, whites (both dry and sweet) at 9°-12°C, rosés at 11°-14°C, and reds at 14°-18°C. Special attention must be given to the latter, as the common belief that they should be served at “room temperature” often leads to them being served too warm.

Climate change spurs early blooms in Bulgaria’s historic rose industry
Bulgarian farmers were busy harvesting rose petals for their renowned oil this week, about a month earlier than the historical norm due to climate change that has ushered in warmer and more humid springs.
Bulgaria is one of the top global producers of fragrant rose oil that is also used in the cosmetics industry.

Turkey black rose producers chase sweet smell of success

Roses from all EU member states on display in Volčji Potok
Volčji Potok – An exhibition of roses from all European Union member states has opened in the Arboretum Volčji Potok botanical gardens to mark the Slovenian presidency of the Council of the EU and present rose growing culture as an integrating element in the EU.
Entitled the EU in Roses, the exhibition comes upon an initiative of the Culture Ministry. It will run until 31 October.

Over Third of Rose Plantations in Bulgaria Could Remain Unharvested
At least 40% of the rose fields in our country this year may remain unharvested.
If this happens, already in the autumn some of the traditional growers of oil-bearing roses will destroy their plantations.
This was predicted by representative of the Association of Rose Producers on the Bulgarian National Radio. The reasons are low purchasing prices and lack of markets.
