EFJ expresses solidarity with Slovenian journalists

Zagreb – The European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) has expressed solidarity with journalists working at the STA and public broadcaster RTV Slovenija as it urged the government to stop contributing to an environment in which verbal and physical harassment of journalists has become par for the course.

Ljubljana – The Ljubljana Administrative Unit has acted upon a proposal from Ljubljana police to ban rallies of the coronavirus deniers who stormed the public broadcaster’s headquarters on Friday. Ljubljana – The director general of public broadcaster RTV Slovenija Andrej Grah Whatmough has dismissed Natalija Gorščak, the director of TV programmes, after accusing her of violating bylaws and allowing ratings to plummet. Ljubljana – Public broadcaster RTV Slovenija director general Igor Kadunc has filed a lawsuit over the appointment of Andrej Grah Whatmough as his successor. One of the key requirements for the post, a minimum of three years of managing major administrative systems, has not been observed in the appointment procedure, Kadunc said Thursday.

He told the STA that laws should be observed the way they had been written, noting that Grah Whatmough did not meet formal criteria for the post.
