From June 5, Montenegro's airspace will be protected by NATO, and the first countries to carry out patrols will be Greece and Italy, according to Skopje electronic edition "New Macedonia", quoted by Focus.

Turkish and U.S. officials on May 25 agreed on a "roadmap" for further cooperation to ensure the security of a Kurdish-held city which became a major headache between the NATO allies, according to a joint statement.

He said that despite Russia's opposition to the expansion of the Western military alliance, "NATO's doors remain open."

Turkey will be responsible for NATO's rapid response unit in a couple years, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said. 

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has called on all allies to provide more support to Turkey, ahead of his official visit to the country scheduled for April 16 with the purpose of preparing the upcoming NATO summit in Brussels in July.

The leaders of Greece and Turkey need to address the issues that have been causing tension between the two countries in recent months and this is "not an issue for NATO," the head of the alliance of which both countries are members said on Sunday.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg will pay an official visit to Turkey on April 16, according to diplomatic sources.
