Russia says attack foiled in south of country

Russian officials said Friday they had arrested three people plotting an attack in the country's south, a week after the assault on a Moscow concert hall killed at least 144 people.

The FSB security agency said it had "put an end to the terrorist activities of three nationals from a Central Asian country", Russian news agencies reported.

Russia says killed ISIL militants planning attack on Moscow synagogue

Russia's FSB security service said Thursday it had killed ISIL militants who were planning a "terrorist attack" on a Moscow synagogue, Russian state news agencies reported.

The FSB said an ISIL cell based in Kaluga, southwest of Moscow, had been planning to shoot Jewish worshippers at a synagogue in the capital.

Russian services blamed Ukraine for the murder of Darya Dugina, the Russian news agency Interfax reported.

According to Russia's Federal Security Service, "the crime was prepared and carried out by the Ukrainian special services."

The FSB revealed the murder of Russian journalist Darya Dugina, the Federal Security Service said in a statement.

CIA Information Thwarted St. Petersburg Attack

The Kremlin said Sunday that the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency provided Russian authorities with information that thwarted a series of Islamic State bombings planned in St. Petersburg.

Moscow said Russian President Vladimir Putin called U.S. President Donald Trump to thank him for the CIA information, a call the White House confirmed.

Russia Detains Suspected IS Cell Plotting Attacks in Moscow, St. Petersburg

Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained seven suspected members of the Islamic State group who allegedly planned terrorist attacks in Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Urals.

The group, arrested in Yekaterinburg, comprised citizens of Russia and countries of Central Asia and was led by one of its members who had  arrived from Turkey, FSB said in a statement on Monday.
