At least 11 Russian soldiers were killed Saturday in a shooting incident that underlined the challenges posed by Russian President Vladimir Putin's hasty mobilization, just as Ukrainian troops pressed an offensive to reclaim the areas in the country's south that were illegally annexed by Moscow.

US President Joe Biden warned Russia against using chemical or tactical nuclear weapons during the war in Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday promised "victory" on a visit to the strategic city of Izyum that was recently recaptured from Russia by Kiev's army in a lightning counter-offensive.

"Germany crossed a red line, which it should not have crossed, when it started supplying Ukraine with lethal weapons of its own production", stated Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechayev in an interview for "Izvestia".
