Paralympian Ruzhdi Ruzhdi and discus thrower Stella Eneva returned to Bulgaria on a direct flight from Paris. Ruzhdi Ruzhdi secured the gold medal in shot put at the Paris Paralympic Games. His winning throw of 12.40 meters earned him the top prize at this major event for athletes with disabilities.

Ruzhdi Ruzhdi secured the gold medal for Bulgaria in the shot put, F55 category (for athletes paralyzed from the waist down and using a wheelchair) at the Paris Paralympics. The Bulgarian athlete's third attempt reached a distance of 12.40 meters, marking his best performance of the season and securing first place.

The Paralympic Games in Paris are set to open today with a ceremony at Place de la Concorde, beginning at 21:00 Bulgarian time. Over 4,400 athletes with disabilities will compete in 22 sports for 549 medals during the 11-day event, which runs until September 8.

Hristian Stoyanov brought the second medal for Bulgaria from the Paralympic Games in Tokyo. After Ruzhdi Ruzhdi won a silver medal in the shot put in the F55 category yesterday, this night Stoyanov also grabbed the silver in the 1500 m in the T46 class, BNR reported.

Ruzhdi Ruzhdi brought Bulgaria's first medal at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo after winning silver in the shot put at the athletics tournament.

Ruzhdi, the Rio 2016 Olympic champion in the F55 category, achieved 12.23 meters in his best fifth attempt. He scored another 12.14, 12.19 meters and committed three fouls.

As of last night Bulgaria has its first two world champions from the Dubai 2019 World Para Championship. Ruzhdi Ruzdhi and Hristiyan Stoykov won the gold in the shot put and 1,500 m run respectively. They are part of the official team of the Bulgarian Paralympic Federation led by Iliya Lalov.

The government will disburse BGN 100 000 (EUR 51 045) to paralympic athletes, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has said.

Three of the Bulgarian participants in the paralympics - the gold medalist Ruzhdi Ruzhdi, Radoslav Zlatanov and Daniela Todorova, as well the coach Radostin Todorov will file a complaint with the Commission for Protection against Discrimination because of the remuneration which disabled athletes receive.
