S-400 missile system

U.S. President Donald Trump said on July 26 he does not blame Turkey for its acquisition of the Russian S-400 anti-air missile system.

Ankara and Moscow are in talks on production of the S-400 air defense systems component parts in Turkey, Alexander Mikheev, head of Russian official arms exporter company Rosoboronexport, said on July 25.

The U.S. wants Turkey not to make "operational" the Russian S-400 missile system it purchased from Moscow, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on July 25.

Turkey's military says the first phase of the delivery of the Russian-made S-400 missile defense systems has been completed.

The military said the delivery of a "first group" of components ended on Thursday. A second group of components is due to begin arriving in the capital Ankara soon.

Turkey and the United States continue negotiations for the former's acquisition of Raytheon's Patriot anti-ballistic missile systems, officials from the Turkish defense ministry have revealed, amid an ongoing bilateral tension over the Turkish deployment of S-400 air defense weaponry from Russia.

Russia will this week complete the first stage of delivering its S-400 defense missile system to Turkey, Dmitry Shugayev,  head of the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, said Tuesday according to the TASS news agency.
"We are completing the first stage of the deliveries this week," Shugayev was quoted as saying.

Turkey on July 22 responded to criticisms that it was moving away from the West amid the row over its purchase of Russian S-400 missiles, urging the U.S. and European allies to seriously address its security concerns.       

Moscow and Ankara are in talks regarding the joint production of parts of the S-400 air defense system, the head of Russian weapons exporting company Rostec said on July 22.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has discussed by telephone with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo the Russian S-400 missile defence system and the U.S. F-35 fighter jet program, a foreign ministry source said on Saturday.
The source did not say when the conversation took place.

Syria, according to Turkish diplomatic sources.
