Sofia Airport to Close Multi-Storey Parking at Terminal 2 for Renovation

Sofia Airport will close the multi-storey parking facility at Terminal 2 due to reconstruction. In a statement to NOVA, airport officials announced that the facility will be closed to entry starting November 25. Vehicles currently parked there will be able to exit over the next two weeks, after which they will need to be towed to an impound lot.

Transavia France aircraft makes emergency landing at Athens Airport

A Transavia France plane conducted an emergency landing Wednesday afternoon at Athens' international airport.

The aircraft had departed at 3.20 p.m. headed for Paris but was forced to return when electronic systems indicated an alert.

According to sources, bird strikes caused engine problems, leading the pilot to request an emergency landing from air traffic control.

A plane by Israeli airline El Al, flying from the United States to Israel, made an emergency landing at an airport in Canada due to smoke in the engine, passengers were not injured, RIA Novosti reported.

According to the airline, the plane landed at the airport in the Canadian city of Halifax.

Air passengers increased by 9.7 pct y-o-y in January

Civil Aviation Authority figures showed a 9.7 percent increase in passenger traffic at Greek airports in January compared to the same month last year.

The total number of passengers that used all of the country's airports came to 2,162,670 last month, against 1,981,908 in January 2018, which points to an increase of 190,762 passengers.
