US, eyeing Iranian arms in Iraq, warns on sectarian tensions
The United States is concerned about how heavy Iranian weaponry might be used inside Iraq, including as Iran-backed militia help the offensive to retake the Iraqi city of Tikrit from Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants, a U.S. official said on March 18.

Human Rights Watch finds ISIL execution site
Human Rights Watch said June 26 that fighters inspired by al-Qaeda had executed Iraqi soldiers en masse this month in Tikrit.
In mid-June, militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) posted photos online of what they claimed to be the bodies of dozens of captured security forces members they had executed.

ISIS-Led Militants Take Over Iraq's Biggest Oil Refinery
Islamist insurgents invaded the Baiji oil refinery, the biggest such facility in Iraq, as they are pushing toward the capital Baghdad after having seized a number of cities.
Some 75 percent of Baiji, located 210 km north of Bagdad, is now under the control of militants led by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS), as the BBC reports citing officials.
