Bulgaria Celebrates 137 years since Unification
Today marks 137 years since the declaration of independence of Eastern Rumelia from the Ottoman Empire and its union with the Principality of Bulgaria. In major cities throughout the country, the Bulgarian flag will be solemnly raised, military rituals will be performed and wreaths will be laid in memory of the dead.

Bulgaria Celebrates Unification Day
Today Bulgarians celebrate 136 years from the Unification of Bulgaria.
6th of September is the day on which the actual unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia takes place. An act that gave the country of Bulgaria the right to return to its borders, lands, that historically belong to it.

Almost 170 Forest Fires in 24 Hours in Bulgaria
Nearly 170 forest and country fires in Bulgaria have been put down around the clock, most of them without material damage. This is according to a report of the General Directorate "Fire Safety and Protection of the Population".
On Sunday evening, a large forest fire broke out at the 76th kilometer of the Trakya highway, near the village of Kalugerovo in the direction of Bourgas.

Enormous Fire near Plovdiv is Under Conrol, Firefighters Worked all Night
Big fire that broke out in a meat mill in a factory in the village of Voyvodinovo in Plovdiv was localized. Early in the morning firefighters continued to extinguish a few remaining small areas from the fire. Today, authorities wll start looking at the causes of the incident.
Bulgarian Authorities Detain 21 Illegal Migrants Near Border with Turkey
Bulgarian border police officers have detained 21 illegal migrants near the border with Turkey.
They were detained near the village of Granichar in the municipality of Sredets, Darik radio informs.
There are both children and women among the migrants, who claimed to come from Iraq. The youngest migrant from the group is eight years old, while the eldest members is aged 42.

Emergency Declared In Several Bulgarian Towns
Emergency due to overflowing dams and high waters was declared in the towns of Saedinenie and Peshtera, reports the bTV national channel.
Homes in Saedinenie and the surrounding areas are partially flooded by overflowing dams and rivers.
The critical situation in the town of Elhovo because of the rising levels of Tundzha river also remains.

Deputy Mayor of Bulgaria’s Saedinenie Charged with Embezzlement
The deputy Mayor of the southern Bulgarian municipality of Saedinenie, Georgi Trendafilov, was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of embezzlement.
Trendafilov was arrested in an operation of the Economic Police Chief Directorate of the Interior Ministry and the Plovdiv District Prosecutor's Office.
