Saint Barbara

On December 4, the Orthodox Church commemorates Saint Barbara, a revered figure in Christian tradition and folklore. Known as the patron saint of those who passed away suddenly, without the opportunity to repent and receive communion, Saint Barbara's life and martyrdom are deeply rooted in both history and legend.

Hundreds of pilgrims gathered at Saint Savvas hospital from early on Friday to worship the relics of Saint Barbara being taken to the cancer clinic on Friday. The holy relic arrived in a silver casket shortly after 10 a.m.

The Church of Greece and SYRIZA?s parliamentary group representative, Nikos Filis, clashed on Monday after the latter complained about the use of a relic of Saint Barbara, one of the most venerated saints in the Orthodox Church, which was brought to Greece over the weekend.
