Saudi Crown Prince Arrives in Buenos Aires for G20

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman arrived in Buenos Aires on Wednesday to join a Group of 20 summit, media reported, as he aims to shrug off the lingering stigma of journalist Jamal Khashoggi's murder, reports AFP. 

The prince was received at the airport by Argentina's foreign minister Jorge Faurie, according to Argentine press.

Saudi king sacks utilities minister amid anger over prices

The king of Saudi Arabia has sacked the country's water and electricity minister, Abdullah al-Hussayen, amid public anger over price hikes, state media reported.

King Salman issued a decree on April 23  ordering his dismissal and replacement in the interim by Agriculture Minister Abdel Rahman al-Fadli, said the official SPA news agency.

An Order of State of the Republic of Turkey was given to Saudi Arabia's King Salman on April 13. The phrase "throwing a sprat to catch a mackerel" springs to mind, but as far as we know Salman is not even offering the bone of the mackerel. (Of course, not including the gifts he brings for President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an, but that does not concern us ordinary citizens.)

Murakami wins Danish literature prize

Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami on Nov. 17 won Denmark's top literary award, the Hans Christian Andersen Prize, following in the footsteps of such writers as J.K. Rowling and Salman Rushdie.

The award, named after Denmark's famous fairytale creator H.C. Andersen, comes with a cheque for 500,000 kroner (67,000 euros, $71,400).

Saudi king leaves France after 8-day stay after controversy

The Saudi king's visit to his family's French Riviera mansion is over after weeks of controversy surrounding the closure of a public beach during his stay, the top state official in the area said on Aug. 3.

Sub-prefect Philippe Castanet said that the small, isolated beach was reopened after the Aug. 2 departure of King Salman following an eight-day stay.
