Hamas has announced its acceptance of the UN Security Council's ceasefire resolution for the Gaza Strip and is prepared to negotiate the details. Sami Abu Zuhri, a senior representative of the Palestinian Islamist movement, conveyed this information to Reuters. Zuhri underscored that it is now up to Washington to ensure that Israel adheres to the resolution.

The White House is still awaiting a response from Hamas regarding the proposal for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan mentioned that Washington is looking for a decision from Hamas through Qatar, a key mediator in the peace efforts.

A drone attack on a base in Jordan killed three American troops and wounded more than 30 on Sunday, with U.S. President Joe Biden blaming Iran-backed militants and vowing to hold the perpetrators to account.

Hamas on Oct. 11 warned Israel against ?foolishness? after an air strike by the Jewish state in the Gaza Strip in response to rocket fire killed a pregnant woman and her toddler.

The European Union will appeal a December court decision ordering the removal of the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas from the EU terrorism blacklist, foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said Jan. 19.
      

Hamas said Jan. 5 it was "totally opposed" to Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas's plans to re-submit to the UN Security Council a resolution on ending Israel's occupation which failed last week.
      
"Hamas is totally opposed to any return to the UN Security Council by the Palestinian Authority," spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said in a statement.
      

A three-day Israel-Hamas truce has ended in Gaza Aug. 8 with no word on extension. The militant Hamas group that dominates the enclave said all Palestinian groups in Gaza have refused to extend the ceasefire, but negotiations are ongoing.

Israel approved the Egyptian-proposed Gaza truce on July 15, minutes before it was to come into effect at 6 a.m. GMT, Israeli officials said.

They said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's security cabinet had convened to vote on the deal at Israeli military headquarters in Tel Aviv.
