King Charles III made a subtle yet notable fashion statement during his visit to Samoa, where he attended the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, by wearing a tie adorned with Greek flags.

A 6.2-magnitude earthquake shook an area near the Pacific state of Samoa today, Reuters reported.

The epicentre was 237 kilometres in the ocean in the south-southeast direction of the city of Apia, the US Geophysical Institute said.

The island nation of Samoa has declared its waters a  shark sanctuary, joining a string of other Pacific countries in protecting the marine  predators.

Pacific leaders including Malcolm Turnbull have condemned North Korea, describing their behaviour as a threat to their region, News.com.au reported.

Pacific nations including Australia have jointly condemned North Korea's repeated attempts to test nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.

Turkey has sent a total of 2,000 Qurans to Samoa after translating them into Samoan for the 130 Muslims living in the remote South Pacific country, which has a population of 193,200. 

The Qurans, translated by Turkey's Religious Affairs Directorate (Diyanet), reached Samoa via ship.
