Aziz Sancar, the winner of the 2015 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, has said he would "give my everything, all of my scientific successes" for peace in Turkey.

The district headquarters of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) in the Bodrum district of the western province of Muğla has hung a banner condemning the recent assault on a woman on a public bus in Istanbul for wearing shorts, saying "only a baby in her womb has the right to kick a woman."

Turkish lawmakers found themselves debating Oscar Wilde during a constitutional commission meeting on May 2, after several lawmakers said they did not know who the classic Irish writer was and confused him with the Oscars movie awards.

The mandate of the parliamentary panel tasked with rewriting the constitution should also include an overall democratization process for Turkey, two of the country's opposition parties have said.

Turkey's "annus horribilis" must be over. All around us we see people in deep sorrow and desperation. We have become a nation that could not solve our own problems, let alone be a cure for our neighbors and all others that suffer. A new approach, a clean slate and a radically different perspective is needed.

Some people are rather officious or dunderheaded to say the least. There are only a few people who become living monuments. Such people are the honor and pride of a society and must be treated accordingly.

2015 Nobel Prize in Chemistry laureate professor Aziz Sancar felt like a breath of fresh air.

Because he has kept his Turkish citizenship even though he has been living in the United States for many years. Because he mentions the gains of the republic at every opportunity. Because one of the values he prioritizes is "hard work."

Nobel Prize in Chemistry laureate Aziz Sancar met with President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an and Chief of General Staff Hulusi Akar in Ankara on Dec. 15, stating again that he will present his medal and certificate to the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Turkish Republic.

Aziz Sancar is a Turkish-American scientist who on Dec. 10 received the 2015 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, shared with two other chemists. He was awarded for his work on human DNA.
