Sanctions against Russia

Ljubljana – The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS) has backtracked on an appeal to the government that Slovenia should not support Russia’s exclusion from the international payment system SWIFT. “We accept all sanctions that the EU will adopt due to the aggression on Ukraine,” GZS director general Aleš Cantarutti said in a written statement on Saturday.

"Bulgaria strongly supports tough sanctions in response to Russia's military aggression against Ukraine, including sanctions against the Security Council of the Russian Federation and President Putin."

"The situation has changed completely and is very dramatic. The military aggression we are witnessing is absolutely unacceptable", said Prime Minister Kirill Petkov, who is taking part in a special European Council meeting on Russia's military aggression in Ukraine.

European leaders adopted a package of sanctions against Russia in 5 key areas - financial, energy, transport, export controls, a ban on financial exports and visa policy. This was said after the meeting, which lasted until late at night, said the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

The EU has imposed sanctions on Russia, RT reports.

EU foreign ministers on Tuesday unanimously agreed on new sanctions against Moscow for recognizing separatist regions in eastern Ukraine and deploying troops there, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said.
